I am one of the senior instructors of the academy. Being a small 15 year with little street awareness I started Wing Chun back in September 1995. Initially I wanted to start a form of martial art, which would be good for the street. Fast, direct and punishing. Throughout the years however I have gained much more than just self defence.

Through the training I have disciplined not only my body but my mind; I have a better understanding of all my strengths and weakness, physically, emotionally and spiritually. As one of the longer lasting members of the academy I can honestly say that to stay in the martial arts for this length of time you must not only have a love affair with the art itself but still find the teachings of your Sifu stimulating and interesting as one finds on their very first lesson. This is a credit to the teaching of Sifu Andrew.

I have taught all levels and ages, I was the founder of the Southgate Branch of the academy, which is still running. I started this class in April 2002 and the class is still going strong today. Teaching others is both very rewarding and challenging. Watching students develop through the academy, watching them gain in confidence and develop not just physically but mentally is a great satisfaction.

I am a qualified physiotherapist specializing in rehabilitation. Part of my role is to treat people who have physical disabilities and help them regain independence with all aspects of their daily activities. This job links in very well with the martial art as it’s around healing, motivating and developing people in the community.
